Treasure maps
Torn maps lead to buried chests: gold, materials and now and then a title, a dog breed or a horse. No gear, no XP.
Where maps come from
Every region's creatures that give you full XP drop its torn map now and then; more often during a Treasure Hunt event. At most 3 maps drop to a character a day (6 during a Treasure Hunt); maps past that wait for tomorrow. Maps stack, trade, go by mail and sell at the auction house.
| Map | Creature levels | Chest gold | Rare title |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | 140 | Vale Treasure Hunter | |
| 20–40 | 325 | Marsh Treasure Hunter | |
| 40–60 | 530 | Crimson Treasure Hunter | |
| 60–80 | 750 | Northern Treasure Hunter | |
| 80–100 | 980 | Storm Treasure Hunter |
The hunt
Open a map from the bag: its hunt has 3 to 5 clues in that region, each a piece of the world map, a riddle, paces from a landmark, or a gesture to make before one. Nothing marks the place: stand where you think it is and dig. A compass says warm or hot as you near it; after 3 wrong digs at one clue, a line tells the direction.
Opened with the party, the map is shared: members in the same region see the clue and the compass and may dig. At the end every member near the chest gets their own; only the opener's map is spent.
The chest
Gold (more in higher regions), materials of the region's highest tier, and rarely the region's title, a new dog breed or a horse coat; one you have already turns into gold. At most 3 chests a day: past that the hunt waits at its last clue.
Every region has its treasure hunter's title. Find 10 treasures in one season (winter, spring, summer, autumn) for that season's title.
