The Webmaw

Dungeon

  • Level 34+
  • 1–5 players
  • Sporewood

The spiders' cave: three web-choked floors. The Broodkeeper guards the queen's eggs, The Silk Weaver spins in the web hall beside the cocooned courier, and The Spider Queen lies on her nest, where only a sliver of the shard is left.

Getting in

Under the mossy outcrop at Sporewood's south end.

Loot and the daily lock

Everyone in the party who took part in the fight (a blow in it, or a heal) gets their own chest, however far above the boss your level is. Gear 5 times a day: kill it a sixth time the same day and only gold and materials come out. The tries renew every day at 04:00.

Alone or in a group

Players12345
Health×1×1.5×2×2.5×3
Blows×1×1.25×1.5×1.75×2

The creatures inside grow with the party: health and blows by the number of players. A boss calls more helpers and marks more circles for a bigger party (the counts in its fight read alone / 2–3 / 4–5). Fought alone, a boss's chest holds less gold and is less likely to hold gear.

  • Mechanic damage

This boss's marks deal a fixed amount set for its level (32), in place of the blow multiples below: a move you could dodge 368 damage, a hazard 322 damage, its signature failed 506 damage, burning ground 110 damage a second. More levels and better gear mean more health, so the same hit takes a smaller part of it. Armour, shields and barriers turn aside at most 20% of it.

  • Blow

It draws a red circle under its main target's feet (the player who angers it most; radius 2 tiles); 1.3 s later it hits everyone inside for 2.2 × a normal blow. It stands still while the mark lasts.

    When4 s into the fight, then every 8 s.

EnragedEvery 6 s, and the circle grows (radius 2.6 tiles).

TipWhen the red circle appears, get out of it within 1.3 s. Whoever holds the boss keeps it away from the group, so the circle reaches no one else.

  • Hatch Timers

It sticks egg sacs round itself (1/2/3 for 1, 2–3 and 4–5 players), each with a count of 10 s; one player's blows break a sac in about 3 s, whatever the party. When the count runs out, every sac still standing hatches: a spiderling comes out of each (3 at most about) and it strikes faster and harder for the rest of the fight. The hatching hits everyone: 506 damage if the whole wave hatched, 322 damage if part of it did. A sac burst early splashes acid 2 tiles round itself (1 × a normal blow).

    When6 s in, then every 20 s

TipSplit up and break every sac before its count runs out; burst them away from the others. The tank keeps the Broodkeeper's bite off the breakers.

  • Rage

It flushes red and rages: its normal blows come 1.3× as often, and all its blows are 15% harder.

WhenAt 30% of its health; it lasts to the end of the fight.

    EnragedBlow every 6 s.

TipThe last part is the most dangerous: save your strong skills and potions for it, and dodging the marks matters more than ever.

  • Mechanic damage

This boss's marks deal a fixed amount set for its level (33), in place of the blow multiples below: a move you could dodge 379 damage, a hazard 331 damage, its signature failed 521 damage, burning ground 114 damage a second. More levels and better gear mean more health, so the same hit takes a smaller part of it. Armour, shields and barriers turn aside at most 20% of it.

  • Silk Rain

It marks a circle under each of its nearest foes (2/3/4 for 1, 2–3 and 4–5 players; radius 1.6 tiles); 1.5 s later all of them strike at once, 1.7 × a normal blow to whoever is inside. It calls out: "(Silk rains from the vault!)"

    When6 s into the fight, then every 11 s.

    EnragedEvery 8 s.

TipStep out of your own circle, not into a neighbour's: keep a little apart.

  • (Web Spitters drop from the ceiling!)

It shouts: "(Web Spitters drop from the ceiling!)" 1/2/3 Web Spitter (level 33) come and attack the boss's target.

WhenAt 60% and 30% of its health, once each.

TipCut down the newcomers first: whoever holds the boss keeps holding it, the others turn on the helpers. Use your area skills here.

  • Web Grid

It strings a line of silk between two pillars of its hall (a thin red line first); each stands 30 s, 2/3/3 at most. Whoever crosses one takes 331 damage and is stuck for 2 s, tearing it as they come free.

    When6 s in, then every 14 s

    EnragedEvery 11 s.

TipKeep the boss where few lines run, and walk round them, not across.

  • Web Tremor

It plucks the web: a tremor runs down every line 2 s after the lines turn red: 521 damage to whoever is within 1.3 tiles of one.

    WhenFrom 50%, every 20 s

TipWhen the lines glow red, step away from all of them.

  • Rage

It flushes red and rages: its normal blows come 1.3× as often, and all its blows are 15% harder.

WhenAt 30% of its health; it lasts to the end of the fight.

    EnragedSilk Rain every 8 s.

    When4 s into the fight, then every 9 s.

EnragedEvery 6.5 s, and the circle grows (radius 2.9 tiles).

TipWhen the red circle appears, get out of it within 1.5 s. Whoever holds the boss keeps it away from the group, so the circle reaches no one else.

  • Web Rain

It marks a circle under each of its nearest foes (2/3/4 for 1, 2–3 and 4–5 players; radius 1.6 tiles); 1.5 s later all of them strike at once, 1.6 × a normal blow to whoever is inside. It calls out: "(The Queen rains web on you!)"

    When6.5 s into the fight, then every 12 s.

    EnragedEvery 9 s.

TipStep out of your own circle, not into a neighbour's: keep a little apart.

  • Silk Cocoon

She wraps one of the party in a cocoon where they stand: they can't move and it hurts them every 1 s, 0.5 × a normal blow, until the others cut it open. Not cut open in 9 s, her venom deals them 539 damage. A lone player struggles out after 2 s of trying to walk.

    When14 s into the fight, then every 26 s.

    EnragedEvery 20 s.

TipEveryone else turns on the cocoon at once: cut your friend out before the Queen comes for the rest.

  • Poison Pools

Circles under 1/2/3 of the party (radius 1.8 tiles); 1.3 s later poison pools lie there for 9 s, hurting whoever stands in one every 1 s, 0.5 × a normal blow.

    When4.5 s into the fight, then every 9 s.

    EnragedEvery 6.5 s.

TipStep out of the circle, and keep the fight away from the green pools.

  • Egg Carrier

She lays an egg on one of the party (never the one she fights): a ring of 3 tiles round their feet. In 6 s it bursts: 392 damage to everyone else in the ring (the carrier 1.2 × a normal blow) and brood (1/2/3) comes out.

    When9 s in, then every 24 s

    EnragedEvery 20 s.

TipThe carrier walks away from the others; the tank picks up the brood.
