The Spawning Hollow
Dungeon
- Level 25+
- 1–5 players
- Reedmarsh
Where Reedmarsh's bog drains into the earth, the toads spawn and the mudlurkers nest. Since the shard's poison came, the spawn has grown wrong. Gorgemaw, a brood-toad the size of a cart, sits in the spawning pools; in the silt pit, among the peat-cutters' old pilings, lies Mirefang, the oldest mudlurker.
Getting in
Down the rope ladder into the sinkhole in the meadow north of Reedbank Pier, east of the river path.
Loot and the daily lock
Everyone in the party who took part in the fight (a blow in it, or a heal) gets their own chest, however far above the boss your level is. Gear 5 times a day: kill it a sixth time the same day and only gold and materials come out. The tries renew every day at 04:00.
Alone or in a group
| Players | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Health | ×1 | ×1.5 | ×2 | ×2.5 | ×3 |
| Blows | ×1 | ×1.25 | ×1.5 | ×1.75 | ×2 |
The creatures inside grow with the party: health and blows by the number of players. A boss calls more helpers and marks more circles for a bigger party (the counts in its fight read alone / 2–3 / 4–5). Fought alone, a boss's chest holds less gold and is less likely to hold gear.

The fight (tap to show)
- Mechanic damage
This boss's marks deal a fixed amount set for its level (23), in place of the blow multiples below: a move you could dodge 255 damage, a hazard 223 damage, its signature failed 350 damage, burning ground 76 damage a second. More levels and better gear mean more health, so the same hit takes a smaller part of it. Armour, shields and barriers turn aside at most 20% of it.
- The Croak
It draws a red ring round itself (radius 3 tiles); 1.5 s later it hits everyone inside for 2 × a normal blow. It stands still while the mark lasts.
WhenIn turn: Venom Spit and The Croak; one move every 8 s, the first 5 s into the fight.
EnragedMoves every 6 s. The ring grows (radius 3.6 tiles).
TipAs soon as the ring appears, move away from the boss: walking, you cover 5.3 tiles in 1.5 s, enough even from right beside it. Then come back and keep hitting.
- Venom Spit
It spits venom down lanes through the party (1/2/3 for 1, 2–3 and 4–5 players), 1.5 tiles wide; 1.5 s later the gobs fly, hitting everyone they pass for 1.8 × a normal blow, and leave little pools of poison along the lane.
WhenIn turn: Venom Spit and The Croak; one move every 8 s, the first 5 s into the fight.
EnragedMoves every 6 s.
TipStep sideways out of the lane (0.8 tiles is enough), and don't stand in the poison it leaves.
- The Swallow
Her tongue lashes at one of you who is not her foe: a red line 1.4 tiles wide, marked 1.4 s. The first one on it is swallowed: acid, 0.4 × a normal blow each 1 s, and you strike her from inside. The others' blows fill her belly bar (3%/2.5%/4% of her health, alone, 2–3, 4–5; alone, your own blows): full, she retches you out and reels 3 s. Not burst in 8 s, she spits you out half digested (350 damage) and heals 4%.
WhenFrom 60% on, every 26 s
Enragedevery 22 s
TipStep off the red line. Swallowed: keep striking. Outside: burst her belly fast.
- Rage
It flushes red and rages: its normal blows come 1.3× as often, and all its blows are 15% harder.
WhenAt 30% of its health; it lasts to the end of the fight.
EnragedMoves every 6 s.
TipThe last part is the most dangerous: save your strong skills and potions for it, and dodging the marks matters more than ever.

- Mechanic damage
This boss's marks deal a fixed amount set for its level (25), in place of the blow multiples below: a move you could dodge 276 damage, a hazard 241 damage, its signature failed 380 damage, burning ground 83 damage a second. More levels and better gear mean more health, so the same hit takes a smaller part of it. Armour, shields and barriers turn aside at most 20% of it.
- Tail Sweep
It draws a red ring round itself (radius 3 tiles); 1.5 s later it hits everyone inside for 2 × a normal blow. It stands still while the mark lasts.
WhenIn turn: Lunge and Tail Sweep; one move every 7.5 s, the first 5 s into the fight.
EnragedMoves every 5.5 s. The ring grows (radius 3.8 tiles).
TipAs soon as the ring appears, move away from the boss: walking, you cover 5.3 tiles in 1.5 s, enough even from right beside it. Then come back and keep hitting.
- Lunge
It lowers its head and marks a lane through the player farthest from it (1.8 tiles wide, 5–11 tiles long); 1.4 s later it runs the lane (17.5 tiles a second) and hits everyone in its path for 2.1 × a normal blow.
WhenIn turn: Lunge and Tail Sweep; one move every 7.5 s, the first 5 s into the fight.
EnragedMoves every 5.5 s. It runs faster (21.3 tiles a second).
TipStanding far off doesn't help: it runs at the farthest one. Step to the side of the lane, not to its end; 0.9 tiles sideways is enough.
- The Pilings
The peat-cutters' old pilings stand round its floor. A lunge whose lane meets a piling ends there: Mirefang slams into it and is dazed for 5 s.
WhenEvery lunge.
TipWhoever it lunges at (the farthest) stands behind a piling: let it come, then everyone hits it while it reels.
- (The silt stirs: its brood crawls out!)
It shouts: "(The silt stirs: its brood crawls out!)" 1/2/2 Mudlurker (level 24) come and attack the boss's target.
WhenAt 70% and 40% of its health, once each.
TipCut down the newcomers first: whoever holds the boss keeps holding it, the others turn on the helpers. Use your area skills here.
- Mud Dive
It dives into the mud (1 s); its wake follows whoever is farthest at 3 tiles a second for 4 s. A wake that comes within 1.3 tiles of a piling cracks its skull: it is dazed 5 s. Otherwise a circle 2.3 tiles round is marked where the wake stops: 1.8 s later it bursts up, 380 damage to everyone in it.
WhenFrom 50% on, every 22 s
Enragedevery 18 s
TipWith its wake after you, put a piling between you and it.
- Rage
It flushes red and rages: its normal blows come 1.3× as often, and all its blows are 15% harder.
WhenAt 30% of its health; it lasts to the end of the fight.
EnragedMoves every 5.5 s.
TipThe last part is the most dangerous: save your strong skills and potions for it, and dodging the marks matters more than ever.
